Selendy Gay Elsberg was conceptualized with equity and inclusion at the very heart of our culture.
As a firm, we took a comprehensive look at equity and inclusion efforts in our industry as well as our own infrastructure, recruiting, and training programs. We considered the host of challenges faced by groups who historically have been underrepresented in the legal profession. We examined our own implicit biases and thought critically about how we can be an anti-racist institution.
Out of that examination, we've developed an innovative new program—the Selendy Gay Elsberg Fellowship—that focuses on attracting, retaining, and nurturing outstanding candidates from a variety of different backgrounds.
The Selendy Gay Elsberg Fellowship provides long-term, individually-tailored training, mentoring and post-recruitment support to help recipients achieve their long-term potential. Through the Fellowship, candidates will have access to long-term professional and personal support, while giving them the agency to opt in and out based on their specific needs and goals.
This support is bespoke and includes (but is not limited to):
Fellows will also receive a $50,000 payment made in tranches.
The Fellowship is open to rising 2Ls who identify as members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in the legal profession.
To be eligible to apply for the Fellowship, candidates must independently apply for and receive an offer of employment with Selendy Gay Elsberg. Please use the link here to apply for a 2L position in our 2024 summer program if you have not yet received and accepted a callback invitation with the firm.
We are now accepting Fellowship applications for our 2024 summer program. The application page will remain open until Monday, August 28th, 2023.
Applicants are asked to submit an essay telling us about a time when they’ve overcome adversity. The essay should describe how the experience impacted their sense of resilience. Responses should be limited to 1,000 words and double-spaced, and should be submitted to fellowship@selendygay.com. We will only consider your application for the Fellowship once you have received an offer for employment.
