Partner Claire O'Brien has been recognized by the New York Law Journal as a "Rising Star" honoree in the publication's 2025 New York Legal Awards. The annual program honors the attorneys and judges whose dedication, innovation, and leadership have profoundly impacted the legal profession across the state.
Claire was selected for her litigation expertise across a wide range of esoteric topics, emerging areas of law, and public interest and pro bono work. Notably, she is a leading force behind the firm’s public policy work on behalf of New York Governor Kathy Hochul, including three separate state and federal enforcement actions brought by the New York Attorney General on consumer harm and antitrust. Claire also represented the Governor’s interests in a just resolution for supporting New York City in providing shelter as part of the case captioned Callahan v. Carey.
Claire plays a leadership role in many of the firm's crypto-asset litigations as well, including her current representation of the Litigation Oversight Committee to Genesis Global Holdco, LLC, seeking recoveries for Genesis creditors who are owed $2.2 billion in cryptocurrency. She also successfully defended Bloq, a blockchain technology solutions provider, against allegations of fraudulent activity in marketing its crypto product, and she investigated claims and secured a favorable settlement for the Unsecured Creditors Committee in the bankruptcy of cryptocurrency platform, Celsius.
