Joshua Bean

Joshua Bean is a litigator with experience across a wide range of practice areas, including complex commercial litigation, civil rights, white-collar defense, and appeals. His practice covers the full lifecycle of complex disputes, from pre-litigation mediation through trial and appeal in federal and state courts.

Representative Matters:

• Represents private equity firms in plaintiff- and defendant-side disputes involving claims of commercial fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and related claims arising from mergers, acquisitions, and other equity transactions, including publicly litigated disputes and confidential pre-suit matters involving hundreds of millions of dollars in claimed damages.
• Represents liquidating trustees in core bankruptcy proceedings and bankruptcy-related commercial disputes. 
• Advises a foreign shipping company on appellate preservation and potential appellate relief in a commercial dispute with a U.S. multinational conglomerate.
• Represents individuals in constitutional civil-rights litigation involving the First Amendment, as well as in complex and confidential personal disputes at the trial and appellate levels. 

Joshua previously served as a term law clerk to the Honorable Milan D. Smith, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Lawrence E. Kahn of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. While studying at Columbia Law School, he externed for the Honorable Timothy M. Reif of the United States Court of International Trade and served as a criminal law teaching assistant to the Honorable Jed S. Rakoff of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
