Julie’s representations include:

  • Fortis Advisors, as representatives of the former shareholders of revolutionary robotic surgery startup Auris Health, in an earnout dispute with its acquiror, Johnson & Johnson. Our clients alleged that Johnson & Johnson breached the merger agreement and defrauded the shareholders, resulting in its failure to achieve certain earnout milestones. After four years of litigation—including approximately 70 depositions, nine experts, and a 10-day trial—the Delaware Court of Chancery ruled on September 4, 2024, that Johnson & Johnson owed the former shareholders more than $1 billion in damages. The significant 145-page decision found the former shareholders entitled to the largest earnout-related damages award in Delaware history.
  • The Litigation Oversight Committee to Genesis Global Holdco, LLC in two lawsuits against Genesis’s parent Digital Currency Group and its founder and affiliated entities and individuals, on behalf of creditors who are owed crypto assets worth approximately $2.2 billion. The complaints – one filed in the Delaware Court of Chancery and one in the U.S. bankruptcy court – include claims for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, unjust enrichment, preference, and fraudulent transfer.
  • The Vesttoo Creditors Liquidating Trust in a lawsuit seeking to hold Aon, China Construction Bank, and certain other entities and individuals accountable for fraudulent conduct that led to Vesttoo Ltd.’s bankruptcy and billions of dollars in insurance losses.
  • U.S. Bank, as trustee of ABSHE, in an action to recover hundreds of millions of dollars from DLJ and Ameriquest.

Julie also maintains an active public interest and pro bono practice. She currently represents the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and its Harvard chapter in an action against the government to end the ongoing misuse of federal authority to threaten academic independence and freedom of speech. Julie also represents transgender South Carolinians and their families in a suit challenging South Carolina’s ban on gender-affirming healthcare, and she recently helped author an amicus brief in Supreme Court case United States v. Skrmetti concerning gender-affirming healthcare for minors.

Prior to joining Selendy Gay, Julie served as a law clerk for the Honorable Ann M. Donnelly of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
