Selendy Gay has been recognized by both Law360 and The American Lawyer following the dismissal of a federal defamation suit against MS NOW analyst Andrew Weissmann.
Law360 named Selendy Gay a Legal Lion for the second time in two months, and The American Lawyer recognized the team with a Litigator of the Week Shout-Out. Selendy Gay founding partner Faith Gay represented Mr. Weissmann alongside Corey Stoughton and Rachel Slepoi.
The case was brought by former Trump administration attorney Stefan Passantino over a 2023 social media post in which Mr. Weissmann said Passantino had coached former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson to lie to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan dismissed the suit, finding that Passantino had failed to show that Mr. Weissmann knew his statement was false. The court also found that Hutchinson’s testimony supported Mr. Weissmann’s characterization of Passantino’s conduct.
