Selendy Gay attorneys Faith Gay, Corey Stoughton and Rachel Slepoi received a shout-out in this week’s “Litigator of the Week” column from Am Law’s Litigation Daily.
The shout-out recognized their recent victory on behalf of former federal prosecutor, law professor and MS NOW analyst Andrew Weissmann, helping secure the dismissal of a federal defamation suit brought by former Trump administration attorney Stefan Passantino.
Passantino alleged that Weissmann defamed him in a September 2023 social media post concerning Passantino’s representation of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson before the January 6th Select Committee. U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan dismissed the suit, finding that Passantino failed to show that Weissmann knew his statement was false. The court also found that Hutchinson’s deposition transcript supported Weissmann’s characterization of Passantino’s conduct.
